Our Geneva College community mourns the passing of Assistant Professor of Education Michal Wargo, EdD, who went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2026.
Wargo faithfully served Geneva College's Department of Education, where she prepared future teachers with excellence, compassion, and a deep commitment to Christ. A gifted educator in reading, literacy, and special education, she was known not only for her expertise in the classroom, but for the genuine care she showed every student. Wargo believed teaching was a calling – one which she faithfully carried out and encouraged those around her to pursue with faith, humility, and purpose.
Reflecting on her life and legacy, Provost Melinda Stephens, PhD, shared:
"Dr. Wargo embodied the very spirit of Geneva College. Her dedication to her students, her passion for her field, and her unwavering faith left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of sitting in her classroom or working alongside her. She poured her heart into this institution, serving not just as an educator, but as a mentor, an encouragement, and a Christ-like example to us all.
“While we grieve this tremendous loss, we do not grieve without hope. We take comfort in knowing that Michal is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.”
Her impact is perhaps best expressed through the testimonies of the students she invested in. As Kaylin Kingston '26 previously shared:
Wargo was beloved by many and will be sorely missed, but her fruitfulness will continue through the countless educators she equipped, the colleagues she encouraged, and the students whose lives were forever changed by her faithful witness. We extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies to Michal Wargo’s husband, David, their children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her. Through Jesus Christ, “we rejoice in hope of the glory of God” and the promise of eternal life.
The family has shared an invitation to celebrate and remember Michal Wargo Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Harmony–Zelienople Global Methodist Church (123 N Pittsburgh St, Zelienople, PA 16063). A celebration of Michal’s life will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by light refreshments — including cookies and coffee — from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., where the family encourages your fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, they have requested that donations be made in Michal's memory to the Promise of Life Network: https://promiseoflifenetwork.org/donate
